Der Extracellular Matrix Metalloproteinase Inducer (EMMPRIN) wird verstärkt auf mononuklären Zellen atherosklerotischer Plaques exprimiert. Dessen regulatorische Wirkung auf die Aktivierungskaskade von Matrix-Metalloproteinasen (MMP) ist jedoch ungeklärt. Unsere in vitro Untersuchungen weisen eine EMMPRIN-vermittelte Induktion von MMP-9 in Monozyten, sowie von MMP-2 und MT1-MMP in glatten Muskelzellen nach. The Extracellular Matrix Metalloproteinase Inducer (EMMPRIN) is highly expressed on mononuclear cells of atherosclerotic plaques. Its effect on the regulation of the activation cascade of Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMP), however, has not been described. Our in vitro studies showed an EMMPRIN-induced expression of MM-9 on monocytes, and MMP-2 and MT1-MMP on smooth muscle cells.
