The scientific basis for the administration of corticosteroids classified as glucocorticoids in certain cochlear disorders, such as immune-mediated progressive and idiopathic acute sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL), Ménière’s disease and noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL), was discussed.
